Hi James, We had over 30 dump truck loads delivered the end of May for our Reopening Celebration. Since then, the Town of Aurora turns the pits every 4-6 weeks and they turned both pits for us on Monday August 02. This always allows for many fossils to be discovered. We hope that this information helps and we look forward to seeing you at the Aurora Fossil Museum. -AFM Team
The dirt was turned over about a week ago. There won't be new dirt until October (maybe) according to the museum staff. That being said, we went a few days ago and found a lot of small shark teeth and other small fossils. Although we found a few medium sized and very nice shark teeth, they were not as big and plentiful as when the dirt is newer.
No from what I heard, staff told me they wont restock until fall.
Yes!
They get new dumps from the phosphate dredging on a fairly regular basis. We talked to one of the drivers that came while we were there.
not likely
We went recently and found quite a bit.
