It's obvious you hate the store, can you pkease just let it go? I dont like walmart either but I don't waste my time bashing them, I just shop at better stores and only at Wal-Mart if there are no other options
And if you are paying attention, some of those smiling waving greeters are special needs people that Wal-Mart is happy to be able employ. But yes, lately there are fewer bodies working. So many younger people have no work ethics and just don't show up. And then the stores "let/encourage" you to do your own checkout which is free labor for them.
There watching for losers who steal
The greeters are also used as theft prevention.
Did you keep up with the times? Some 50,000 jobs are going unfilled. Child day care providers can't get college educated (required) people to work for $11/hr. Walmart starts at $14-16. Businesses all over the nation are crying for help. Older workers retired early. Yoynger people have decided thry can live on less and be happier spending more family-time together. As the experts at the forms in Milwaukee saud last wee and for a year now - "Get used to the new normal." It's probably here to stay as long are we prevent migrant workers. My neighbor lady is paid $13/hr to pick tomatoes and vegetables for a local farmer who sells directly from local stands.
It's a corporate policy, the store does not get a say.
I'd be happy to ' simply go shop at another store.' However if we think back some years ago.... walmarts were popping up everywhere and wiping out shopko target Kmart's and all the others including The Mom &Pop stores. I remember it clearly ... . Our town begged pleaded and would have sold our souls ti keep yet another walmart from popping up here in this town when we gave a walmart 10 mins away or drive the other direction and its15 mins away. But they won the battle (and of course they did right)
