Amethyst is fairly difficult to find. I dug there an entire day and found only one tiny point of amethyst with only the faintest purple. It's very difficult to tell on-site whether you've found amethyst or smoky. That being said, while I was there a 6th grader found an amethyst cluster almost as big around as a volleyball, just one hill over from where I was digging. The rockhounds there estimated it was worth upwards of $1000. So the amethyst is *definitely* there, you just have to work pretty hard for it.
It all depends on where you dig. Once you find amethyst keep digging there. Its a lot to take in at first but once you find your pocket of goodies... It can be spectacular.
I hunted from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and found 3 pieces amythiest. but so many other pieces. Lots of beautiful crystals. Its a great day. Lots of good finds and plenty of fun for a true rock hound.
It's a working mine, so yes, there is definitely amethyst. There's also smoky quartz and various other gem stones. The best part is that you get to keep whatever you find. Some places don't let you keep anything significant.
Why called dioman mind and there no domains?? And is THERE any rocks u find worrh lot of mony im going hope to find somthing worth mony to cell
Yes. We found alot of amethyst. A girl just walking on top of one hill found one laying on the top about 3"around perfect and 6 points. (About the length of a finger in width). We got there late, but brought home a bunch with only being there about three hours. Definitely going back. Some good pockets there.
You can search pictures in Google for diamond mine, youll see some i submitted.
It is fairly rare. Even more on the large pcs. We found about 5 small pieces/points in about 13 hours of rockhunting.
