No they're two different companies. What-A-Burger(East Coast, NC, SC, VA) and Whataburger(Chain Orgin TX spread throughout bottom central US). Both founded in the 50s and until the 70s they didn't know each other existed, thus starting a debacle. They came to an agreement though with the name dispute.
Been to both. The texas one is closer to Cookout. This is a blast from the 50's. It tastes exactly like the drive in stories your grandparents tell you about.
No but, I've never had bad food or service. I've eaten there for over 30 yrs... Always good!
No not the same chain. These are horrible and from the one and only time I was at this one my wife a nurse looked at the food and threw it in the trash as she felt that it could cause us harm. Pork was raw pink in the middle and the hamburger was actually purple. I actually asked her after cutting into the burger. Lady that waited on us was also quite abusive. Woukd suggest you avoid at all cost.
