Are people allowed to swim there? I saw the pics. If people are allowed to swim there when do they normally start? Is it too cold for swimming in May in this area?

The water there is always cold. I swim there often. You just want a hot day. There are big red signs that warn of the dangers but they can not stop you from swimming there. Avoid the rapids at all cost. Help is a long ways out!

You are not supposed to swim there. Currents and rip-tides.

I would not water going to fast and cold

I really don't think its deep enough to swim in

Derek Robinson | Feb 11, 2019

From the signage posted it is not allowed.

You can swim at your own risk, don't think the state or county would give permission just for liability issues. I went with my wife and two daughters and it was a blast. We were there in early June the water was pretty cold but once you was in it it felt awesome. Definitely recommend.

Can anyone recommend a spot in the area for swimming in a river?

George Mayo | Feb 11, 2019

While swimming is not prohibited in other reaches of the Little River, I do not believe it is allowed at the Sinks. The water is extremely turbulent and there are NPS signs about past drowning deaths at the Sinks. Try another spot on the river.
