Ryan is right, I've seen large groups there before. Typically they put some tables together on the far left of the bar, and people either sit at one of the tables or stay standing and mingle. I've seen people bring in small decorations as well (such as balloons) and a sheet cake for celebrations. Just know that the area wouldn't be private to you. Others coming in would still be seated at other tables or the bar.
