Yes the apples are ripe. You pick them right off of the trees. They have the apples labeled in front of the trees so you know exactly which apples you are picking. They also have the pumpkins patch as well. They supply you bags for the apples and carts if you need them for the pumpkins.

We didn't actually pick apples, they had them available in their market. I don't know how many kinds they have. We got Golden Delicious, Gala, & Jonathan.
At the end of the season there's a great variety. We got Evercrisp, Gala, Fuji... They also had Braeburn and one called Pixie Crunch.
This past weekend they had Fuji and Evercrisp at Belleville available to pick plus one other variety but I don't remember the name.

I was there last monday and they have 5 apple choices and they all tasted amazing.
