I've read that about 1.5 miles of the West trail, that I hiked in this trip, is accessible for wheelchairs and walkefs. That's why John D. Olmsted and others built it the way it is. A friend of John's was handicapped and in a wheelchair. He asked John if he could design a trail tbat people in wheelchairs or walkers could use and enjoy nature.
I can only talk east trail tho.... it is accessible until you reach rear end which may be too steep for wheelchair..
It was originally designed to be wheelchair accessible. It has eroded a bit, but I believe you can for the first section, roughly the first mile. There is a low bridge you walk under at the start to get under the highway, you have to stoop over a bit but seemed doable.
