This is not "Cork Policy" or something we wanted. According to the new CC regulations, it is no longer acceptable to charge CC's over the phone. If the charge is fraudulent or made with a stolen card they will no longer honor it & give no recourse. The new CC regulations give us no acceptable way to verify a CC over the phone. They now require us to physically use the chip readers or to get a verified signature if swiped or manually entered (both of which require the cardholder to be present with the card). The only other approved way is an online purchase, which gives them your digital signature via IP address & other verification tools. The CC companies have made it very difficult for us and have forced us to upgrade all of our CC processing equipment as well as agree to abide by their stricter updated policies. We apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. It is mandated to stop fraud & is for your protection as well as ours.
The credit card companies also charge higher fees when a card isn't swiped or chipped. Margins are low already. Give them a break. It is not that difficult.
No idea, but it certainly cuts down on credit card fraud. If you're such a great customer why would you care about spending an extra 30 seconds to run your card?
They do it to prevent credit card fraud. Makes total sense and I think you would think differently if you were ever the victim of credit card fraud.
Really, a long time customer and you are going to leave over that?
Quality takes time.
