XD is not just higher quality but also a larger screen. With better sound quality and stadium seating. Also, seats are assigned at time of ticket purchase.

Large screen, better surround sound and reserved seating. Well worth the couple extra bucks for big special effects movies.
3D is just 3D and the XD is a bigger theater with a bigger screen and more seating. It also has really good surround sound. If your gonna see a 3D movie I would suggest seeing it in 3D XD also sit in the middle of the theater instead of the back and the 3D will be better.
It's actually a choice of seats in the largest theater. 3D is(obviously) 3 dimension and XD is where you can upgrade your seats where you pay a couple extra bucks to save whatever seats you pick
And it is in very loud surround sound!
Its a movie in 3D, you will get glasses. XD is a high quality movie.
