If you buy an antenna you can get free local channels. With a smart TV and wifi there plenty of free apps you can download for live TV.

Your going to have to pay whether you use Netflix, Amazon prime, hulu , cable or satellite. You can stream from YouTube if you have a smart TV which doesn't cost anything. Netflix and Amazon prime are pretty cheap. I know of some free apps that allow you to stream for free to a smart tv. Although it's very limited.
