Almost positive that it's half off your total food portion of the bill. So this does not include drinks.
I just made a reservation for a birthday dinner and here's how it was described: They divide by the number of guests on the same check with the birthday guest to determine the discount. So a birthday guest on their own check is 100% off. A party of two on that check each get 50% off. Four people on the check (including the birthday guest) each get 25% off. So it's basically a free meal for the birthday guest, but that value is equally divided among all the guests on that check. Note that it doesn't apply to all guests in the party if they are on different checks. (And I didn't ask, but am guessing that for legal reasons alcohol is excluded from the discount.)
You get 1/2 off and when we were there there was a complimentary dessert! ( complete with a candle!) 🙂
Give a free desert and usually 10 percent off.
