What is good to use on your water lines to keep them from freezing? Somebody told us to use heat tape but I've heard a lot of dangerous things about it!!

I used heat tape for 30 years never overlap the tape it will burn itself and then can catch on fire

I have used heat tape in homes and mobile homes for years. Wrap your heat tape around the pipe leaving about 3/4 to 1 in space between wraps. Once finished, put the pipe insulation over top. I prefer the yellow fiberglass insulation over the foam. I just feel it works better. Installed like this heat tape is safe snd works very well.
