It depends where you are traveling from. The max is the city train, essentially, though it's referred to as the light rail. On Google Maps, you can look up directions from anywhere in the city and specify public transit options. If you take the Max into the city center, like Pioneer Courthouse Square, you can then either walk or take the streetcar a couple stops.
