Does the resort have a swimming pool or somewhere to lay in the sun? Do the cottages have a fire pit area, picnic table, and an outdoor grill?

Yes to all

There is a pool with tables & chairs, ample room to sunbathe, but no chaise loungers. I didn't see a fire pit, but I also didn't venture out from our cabin very far. There are charcoal grills outside each cabin. You may be able to picnic by the pool, not sure, you'd have to ask at office.
