Great place to camp. The winding Roads leading to it are a blessing, because their twists and turns discourage massive RVs with generators from crowding the campground. No reservations needed, but it can get full by noon on Fridays in summer.
I agree with Peter. Camp ground is very nice. River and The ocean very close. Good stores in Honey Dew And Petrolia. ....but no fire wood at Arthur park. Matto let river camp ground, Collect fire wood off beach Tons of good fire wood free Be careful for the winds blow Hard. I stayed in beach and Arthur and Petrolia 5 months. This last winter.. Be aware the roads are TERRIBLE. EASIER TO COME FROM FERNDALE.
Hi Krist, Fee is $25/night per vehicle. No reservations but I understand no one has ever been turned away. It's a beautiful site that the river horseshoes around. Each campsite is spacious, private....and level. We stayed 3 nights. One of the days we hiked on the Lost Coast Trail, which is about 13 miles from the campsite. Zach is the host and very easy. He lent me his map of the trail and surrounding area. Flush toilets and coin showers were a plus. And there are several water spigots around. Bring all your supplies, including firewood, as there is nothing immediately close by. We hated to leave. Hope this helps.
I actually grew up in Petrolia ok is where I call home even though I have been gone from there for many years. Me and my family are coming out for the 4th of July there will be a bunch of us last time we went out we got a spot on the hill next to the Mattole road and it was perfect for us all.
