We made it there at 1pm and left right at 4pm. 5adults 4kids 7,5,3, and 1. It was enjoyable for the most part. You have to have a bit of zen going on and relax. There's people everywhere!
Three hours seems about right for a relaxed visit to the zoo. There are so many great things about PT. Defiance that you could easily spend a whole day exploring. The rose garden, Fort Nisqually, and Owen Beach are all beautiful although there are renovating Owen beach.
We made it there with a 3, 8, 11 at 2pm and we were allowed to stay till closing at 5pm
2-3 hrs
My party of three, one of which was disabled was able to see it in two hours. But with little ones, I'd say 2-3 hours is a safe bet.
3 hours
I would think you could do it in a couple hours. We did it in one no kids though
I agree. Max about 4 hrs.
I would plan on 3-4 hours, especially if you'll be attending a zoo information show and having some lunch or snacks.
It took our group of 3 adults two hours and we visited every enclosure and aquarium. Some exhibits take a little patience. The tiger was sunning in grass so you could only see it's head. The leopard was out of view except for a tail. The shark tank was great but you have to wait for the turtle to swim by.
