They provide a needed and affordable resource. If you want anything from dishes to linen to tools to electronics...you can buy them at 1/2 to 1/10th the cost you would pay at a first line retailer. If you catch the sales, the value is even better! Personally, I've become a compulsive bargain shopper...and it's become a form of entertainment that frees up more money for my family.
Goodwill provides with basic English classes for new immagrants; College orientation and sometimes also helps paying tuitions for deserving students in need. If you think about it, Goodwill it's one of the greatest thing our community has ever got. How many things still in good conditions would be thrown in the garbage when they are still helpful for people who cannot afford to buy new one... They money got from selling donations help a lot of people in getting a job...

Ask them for a copy of their 990 tax return which they are required to provide or look them up on Guidestar.
I'm not entirely sure. But if I'm remembering right, I've seen them doing some training classes at the stores. I would ask an employee at the front of the store about it, or do a Google search.
