Hey Matthew Buck, hate to burst your bubble, but Goodwill is a for-profit organization as well. It isn't any better then Value Village in any way.
DON'T "try value village instead".... They are a For Profit Company, that cares only for the CEO and bottom line profits. Nothing that Value Village does is for the community. Stick to GoodWill.
Matthew, Buck, Goodwill is a faux non-profit. They pay disabled employees pennies an hour, don't really train them, exploit refugees who can't speak English and gain no skills working there and their CEOS tend to make anywhere from 3/4 million a year in salary to 2.3 million. You're not supporting any true good works by supporting Goodwill....you're supporting deception and greed...there's a reason why they're nicknamed Greedwill. Also, their prices are quite high for what you get on many items. As a poor person, I really can't afford to shop there. And Scott Housekeeper, you should do a little research...their *mission* may be noble but they don't actually contribute, and exploit those they're supposed to be helping.
I find different items in good shape in both of these stores 👍
Try value village instead
All goodwill stores, but especially this one, have gotten outrageously expensive. It's totally out of control. I can't tell you how much Dollar Tree merchandise I found here being sold for $4 99 or more . The prices have gotten so high it's honestly not really worth shopping here anymore. And I wholeheartedly agree with all the comments about what A sham "charity" organization they are and how much they exploit those they claim to help. They're about that money, as reflected in their pricing of donated goods. At least value village doesn't pretend to be helping the community Goodwill is shady. The shoreline goodwill is too expensive to shop at any more.
They will take WORKING tvs here, even if older if in working condition. In order to drop off NON-working electronics for recycling you have to make an appointment now at EVERY ELECTRONICS RECYCLING LOCATION! I tried to do so for a small, flatscreen moniter that stopped working. I haven't made an appointment yet as I couldn't find one available even three months in advance. It's due to COVID-10 precautions we're told. I still have the non-working flatscreen moniter and it's just annoyingly taking up space. ALSO, be aware that MOST of the electronics recycling facilities do charge for this service, although it's not usually a hefty amount. I've spent several hours calling and foraging through websites in order to find a place that is OPEN STILL and accepting electronics recycling. I've spoken with, called, checked websites, etc., on around 30 places so far. If you need to recycle electronics, be aware you will likely have it on hand for several months until you can get an appt.
Proceeds don't go to training, charities???
