If you are going to Round Mountain Campground or Max Patch a car is fine I was just up there in a Toyota Camry. But FS-96 to Rattlesnake Gap & Wolf Creek Falls is probably best with a high clearance vehicle.
It's best to drive a car that's AWD (all wheel drive). It's just one of those "Better safe than sorry" moments. It can also be sketchy because we took an olfer RAV4 that's AWD and almost got stuck going to and coming back from a waterfall. Take a truck if you're able to.
