Excellent secluded campground. Campsites are well spaced out and clean. No running water but the vault toilets were very clean during our stay. Only a few miles down the road from Max Patch as well!

This is a remote and fairly primitive forest service campground: there is no running water on site and the toilets are vault. Typically, it's not at all crowded, and even on a peak season weekend we were able to choose from several open sites. The road in is a typical mountain FS road, and has always been excellently maintained the times I've travelled it, which is nice since it's not a short drive in from either Del Rio or Hot Springs. If you're the luxury camping type, or the kind who needs to have Things To Do, this may not be the best base camp for you. Even Max Patch isn't as close as it looks on the map. However, if you're looking for a quiet, clean camping retreat where those forkers at work couldn't get in touch with you no matter how hard they tried, this is your spot. (Side note, there is a hiking trail that runs right through the campground, #135 Walnut Mtn, but it's not particularly maintained.)

This is a nice little camp ground that is pack everything in and out. Has vault potties they are for the most part clean and in order. We love it since it is not typical busy. Very peaceful and best part no cell service!

It is first come first serve, it cost $7 a night with a drop deposit box.
If you are going to Round Mountain Campground or Max Patch a car is fine I was just up there in a Toyota Camry. But FS-96 to Rattlesnake Gap & Wolf Creek Falls is probably best with a high clearance vehicle.
There might be a spot on the envelope to include your number for the pass. Here is a supervisor number in Cleveland. (8a-4:30p M-F) 2800 Ocoee Street N Cleveland TN 37312 (423) 476-9700 (423) 476-9721 (Fax)
Never, the drive is rough, most people will tent camp. I have never seen a travel trailer up there except for me.
If I remember correctly, there are 23 campsites.
The campground itself would probably be fine, but the road to the campground would probably be sketchy in an RV. It is gravel and has too many switchbacks to count, not to mention it is pretty steep in several places.
There aren't any facilities. There is a pit toliet. There is also no water spigot or access beside the creek, if you were to have a way to treat it.
