Animals behave differently in the store because there's usually many of the same animals in the tank and no hiding places, so you are able to see them better. I have a couple catfish that I rarely ever see.
I think it's a peacock eel not 100 percent sure
Eels are finicky, I've had a couple that lived for years and I never saw them eat. I had one tanganyikan eel that I had to hand feed blood worm and other frozen food. I also had one I thought died who turned up 2 years later living happily in a hang on back filter, he's slither out at night and rummage around for food then climb back in somehow during the day. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.
What kind of eels and ask dave
They are nocturnal, so they only come out at night. I see mine maybe once or twice a week. A lot of times they feed off the ground.
