Yes. You can see other kayaker there often when the weather is nice. Parking lot on both sides of Crossbay Blvd at the north channel bridge. Bring a fishing pole also, plenty of nice fishing there as well.

You van manage. See, people describe options in other answers. But, unless you reallybknow why you wanna do it, I'd rathetao not... It's really shallow, bottom is sentury long toxic mud, byou would sink a yard, if decide to step on it. Tides are significant: have to count in the possibility of entering maze of island and shallows high tide and getting stuck in low tide. WHEN you get cought, botom may present you with dangerous debris, hidden in that mud and wastly scattered sharp shells. Nothing impossible, and if I had to go there, I'd go with a sail and small motor. Also concider landing places nearby, if wind/tide changes while on adventure. If you have a chance, go on foot first: you would get magnificent views of the city and nature, unique photo opportunities, with your own eyes examine feasibility of waterside exploration. It greatly depends on you own Phythical shape and desire. I wouldn't do it.... But writing this, began to think of "why not?"

You can kayak, but only from the parking lot of the North Channel Bridge. Another kayak location will be opening in Rockaway. Unfortunately, there is no parking lot available at that location.

There is also a new kayak launch in Rockaway Beach on Beach Channel Drive with access to Jamaica Bay.

Bruce Stock | Dec 7, 2018

No, but you can launch at Hamilton Beach Park, or maybe Charles Park in the Howard Beach area.
