Is it required to make an appointment to take a permit test, or can I just walk in and take it?

Paperwork that you need: Social security card DL-180 Form (filled out by doc + you; found on PA DMV website) Birth certificate, or other valid form of ID (Must have raised seal) Check made out to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (or a money order) Parental consent form also found on the website

Seth, you most definitely do not need an appointment to take the permit exam. You can walk anytime when you feel ready to. I am not sure what paper work is required. When you come in, press the button on the queue that says permit tests. It will give a B number ticket. Then please wait to have number called.
