My suggestion would be to get a hotel in Frederick, M.D.. There are MANY hotels in Frederick which is only about a 20 min. drive from the caverns and is a historic city with tons to see and do. If you want clean and cheap Motel 6 on West Patrick St is only about fifty couple dollars a night but there are tons of nicer hotels in Frederick as well. The next best option would be Hagerstown, MD which is probably closer to the caverns but not as nice of a city in my opinion.
