It should be pretty easy, you need to go to the DMV with your passport (proof of identity), SS card, and proof of residence (bank statement)
You will need to bring proof of identity, like your passport, social security and birth certificate. Have $40 with you for the application (not certain how much they charge currently). You will be given a form, which you also may download online that you have to complete. If you call the 1-800 number, you can set up your account online and order a new DL/ID for $20-$25. You do not need to being any proof if you have an account online. You will need to prove your identity, so having your driver's license number and social security number at the time of the call would help you greatly (you could have memorized it- and that is great).
