The real reason is that they were eventually evicted for failing to maintain the property in accordance with their lease. The tribes that lived there (Powhatan nation, if my memory is correct) are not actually indigious to this area any way.

They lost the right to reside on their own land. Smdh!! I so enjoyed the festivals they put on during Columbus weekend! So sad.
