Does the state of delaware require a background check, waiting period and the like for both long guns and hand guns? If there is a difference in the paperwork needed, does anyone know? I seem to have found conflicting information online so far.

Its federal law for a background check for all new guns.

Delaware has an ATF background check for all handguns and long guns... when you fill it out they call ATF ...ATF will clear a at time sale or an on hold sale.. if you get an on hold sale you have to wait a week before able to pick up firearm.. Delaware is pretty much no felonies and you can't have more than 3 misdemeanors and no violent or drug offenses..

I believe it's all the same.they fill everything out in the computer and it normally take 10 to 20 minutes.then you walk out with the gun.
