WORST. EXPERIENCE.EVER. When we came in person, they lost our place in line, and began having people who came after us, go before us. When I questioned this, they lied to my face and said that those people had "been waiting in the lobby" before we came and therefore had to go before us. I told them this was not true because those people had asked us if we were in line, and where to get a number, etc! The supervisor was absolutely unapologetic and said oh well it happens I'm sure you'll be called soon. Now, we finally got our marriage certificate and both of our birthplaces are incorrect!! We had filled it out correctly, we even checked in on the screen beforehand. Now they want a $20 amendment fee and a copy of my birth certificate to change it! Are you kidding me? Plus, my name is incorrect on my birth certificate so now they basically screwed me. Horrible, horrible people.

in my experience they will not be of any help with anything. the combination of incompetence, dishonesty, unfair taxation (aka thievery), laziness, good luck! i could relate so many incidences-all negative but there is not enough room here (purposely, no doubt!). watch the documentary "Priced Out" a starting place to learn how callous, racist, greedy they are. they break the law re "Fraud, Waste and Abuse" w/no repercussions. they probably were overjoyed by covid. close down so as not to deal with these pesky taxpayers! (who pay their salaries and have legitimate cases they are encouraged to not file. They have told me more than once, don't bother with an appeal, you'll lose." i am not making this up). I actually took pride in my profession and worked hard. apparently, this generation is devoid of anything close to a work ethic, a current example: let's use covid as an excuse to close the office.

If a spouce passes away do I need to do anything regarding my taxes?

a spouse's death will impact your taxes. How much of an impact depends on your situation and various factors. BUT If he or she was receiving retirement from Social Security be VERY CAREFUL AND THROUGHLY LITERATE IN ssa speak in filing anything with them. AARP did recent article, cited a case where a widow lost $90,000. or more? because of HOW she filled out the form. the article reported there was over ?millions just sitting there that widow(er)s were entitiled to but filed incorrectly or not at all. Also,(per AARP article) some of the employees at SSA are not well trained and have given erroneous info leading to disasterous monetary losses. - not on purpose, just incompetent or haven't had enough training. any doubts, i'd hire someone who is fluent in ssa law, pollicy etc. try to haggle a lower fee - they charge too much in my opinion, plus vet the person before you hire them. There are records which report complaints, etc.- find all info you can before hiring an advisor.

I am trying to learn who is the deed holder of a house. Can you help me?

i have found this info (Deed Holder & much more) by typing the address of the house on google search thingy - often redkin? or zillow (both realty places) somehow barge in but they have a lot of info even if the house is not for sale. stuff like property tax history, prior owners and what they paid, year it was sold/bought etc. i recently re-fied and word of warning. That whole industry is supposedly heavily regulated.that alone means industry is/was rife w/serious problems and bad actors, fraud, theft, shady and unethical types. . I'm hiring a finance forensic analyst to review all the paperwork. I educated myself some and actually found several incidences wherein they basically stole? from me.e.g. They did not pay my property tax on time which was their contractual responsibility -and a late payment fine of $170 was leveled on my acct. The loan servicer did not tell me, (actionable) then used part of my next payment to pay the fine. again did not inform me. (2nd actionable cause)
