This is my favorite getaway destination when I'm feeling cooped up. There's a sense of solitude and expanse as you stroll along the Delaware River. If you're lucky, there'll be cormorants hanging out on the piers. Amazing that it was an active military base not that long ago. There's a mix of historic abandoned buildings and others that have been refurbished and reopened (Urban Outfitters). There's abundant free parking, but it's a hike or bike ride from the NRG stop on the Broad Street line. If you do drive, the front Broad Street gate may be closed on the weekend. To be safe, you can come in from the Columbus Blvd side, drive through the quarry and still get in. It is dog friendly but few amenities (restrooms, eateries) are open on the weekends. From 3-10/22 Visit The Marine Parade Grounds to experience Magical Fantasy. Colorful life-size playhouses that all ages and pets will enjoy exploring.

Great area to spend a few hours walking around looking at retired navy vessels, exploring parks, and viewing nice architecture.

The Navy Yard is a really cool part of Philadelphia. You get to see lots of the naval ships up close. It's a beautiful area with many older buildings. It's the perfect spot to take pictures. It's also a peaceful area, it's nice and quiet and it doesn't feel like you're in the city. There are lots of great places to take a walk. One of my favorite things about The Navy Yard is the view you get from below of the Girard Bridge. Really cool to see!

I came here for a walk and to take photos and it was so peaceful and beautiful. I enjoyed the view and seeing the fleets. There was ample parking and no one around so I was able to have such an enjoyable walk and captured many great photos of the Navy Yard

Yes sure can!
I believe so. As long as you have the necessary permits to fish in Philly/PA. I see a lot of people fishing there often.
I don't believe so,I think still closing at 3
It is in the plans. It was just approved this year and bids are supposed to be received
Ya, take the train to the stadiums, you can walk from there, not to far
The aircraft carrier JFK is there but almost all of the other ships have been stripped out and in various stages of being taken apart.
No, but on the other hand there isn't much to do here other than admire the old ships and architecture. Some fishing spots down on the river.
