Best japanese deli in seattle! They have excellent if not the best/freshest sushi around. I've been going here since I was a kid (25+ years). Maruta is also a small business, which I love supporting small businesses. Parking can sometimes be an issue, but there's actually a parking lot in the back that most people don't know about. If you have a big car, look for the back parking lot! Highly recommended, very authentic, Japanese community approved!

Great little Japanese convenience store. Prices are better than Uwajimaya and H Mart. At 4:30p every day they mark all their sushi half-price and it’s a gold rush. I was torn about writing this because it’ll encourage more competition for my sushi hahaha.

I often come here to shop when I want to eat Japanese food or when I need ingredients. The inside of the store is small, but the number of items is plentiful. The daily lunch boxes and sushi here are diverse and delicious. Hot deli also available You can also buy croquettes and fried shrimp separately. I think it's convenient for you to buy and eat lunch or dinner in the hot summer. I think you can buy it cheaper than making it yourself. After 5:30pm 50% off all bento and deli items. However, it may be sold out by that time. Don't forget to get a fork and chopsticks when you buy a bento or deli. Because it's just a take out only. No tables and chairs inside the store. There are many sale selections and it is a bargain. For example; Vermont Curry sauce mix for $ 2.99, half the price. I always buy a lot of things when I come here. If you have a recycling bag, I recommend that you bring it with you. I love MARUTA-SHOTEN and when I come here I feel like I'm in Japan.

Great little Japanese market and reasonable prices. The deli has a large variety of bento boxes, donburi and a nice selection of sushi. Also for such a little store I find their selection of Japanese goods much better. Definitely not a place for produce or fresh meat though.

Only saw it at the beginning of the season. Don't think this was a good year for matsutake
I agree with Leo Lam. Sometimes fresh mochi is available.

H-mart in Federal Way sells in in the beer and wine section. It is on the top shelf, in a clear bottle. It isn’t canned but, still tastes great! I saw 3 flavors, grapefruit, mango, and raspberry. $9.99 for a pack of 6.
