Beautiful station with a retro feel to it. It has a convenience store and decent bathrooms, along with the obvious ticketing counters and train station. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is that the area around the station is pretty sketchy.

Perfect atmosphere for a train station! Some reviews criticize the neighborhood, the homeless, but that's exactly what makes it fantastic. A bustling urban transit center full of life, energy and character, which made stopping here while awaiting a transfer to San Francisco such a treat. As an author, being in an environment that is alive and thriving inspires great words, and many were written during my time spent here. The station is sprawling, the decor is awesome, and Portland is an amazing city. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Why deal with horrendous I-5 traffic? Take the train + arrive relaxed instead. Plus, you get to experience historic Union Station with its marble walls + vintage neon signs - built when craftsmanship still mattered.

Decent on days that are not busy. There is never enough seating, many have to stand and wait for the train. But that is preferable than sitting on those wooden church pews. Bathrooms are quite small for so much traffic that comes daily and the “cafe”... Don’t bother and just grab snacks before you get to the station! It will save you money on train food and will give you way more selection! Positive Highlights: They sell wine on the trains! Delightful! The station is clean and people are mostly well behaved. Outdoor smoking area with lots of benches and ash trays! Getting an upgrade is silly very cheap if the train is pretty empty. Got a sleeping room for $8!

No you can't. There are rental services that will pick you up. They bring you to the rental place. But you have to pay close attention to the times.
Unfortunately, no there isn't, best bet would be to uber to one especially if you have bags in tow. I believe the closest is on the other side of the river, some even might pick you up in a rental.
