I worked for west hills for 2 years. Very poor management. High turn over rate. Salary to low. Always short on caregivers. Not treated fairly. Doesn't resolve issues brought up to management. Over work staff. Poor communication. Rude to employees and residents. Food isn't great. Not platinum care as they say. Doesn't care about there employees. No room to grow in the business. Improper training.

I've been recently been exploring assisted living options & have decided to tour a few. I stopped by West Hills Village this past weekend & was pretty disappointed. It seemed dirty & outdated to me. There wasn't anyone at the front desk so I went to the nurses station like the sign stated. I did ask a sweet lady how she liked it here. Her response was "it's okay". Not exactly a glowing review. After nearly 10 minutes I finally got someone to get me some information & show me around quickly. I was floored by the pricing for an apartment there. The apartment was very small, again very outdated & didn't have a shower that someone could roll into. I guess that may work for independent living but not for assisted living. This community may have charm to some but I'm looking for something a lot nicer (that's less expensive). I did also hear from a neighbor that one of the caretakers was convicted of abusing residents in the past couple of years. Needless to say, not the right choice.

Beautiful, updated, fresh facility. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. Staff is extremely attentive, and the food is great. This has been a perfect residence for our family member!

My mother-in-law has a large alcove studio. She pays a base amount of about $4200/mo which covers the apartment and meals. Hers is "Assisted Living." The caregiver costs - assistance with medications, dressing, etc. - is on top of the $4200. (She pays about $1200 more per month, but it all depends on the amount of assistance required.) The base apartment cost also covers activities (classes, happy hour, etc.).
Depends on whether you're looking at bus access for a senior citizen or for someone who works there. It's about half a mile from a stop on the Garden Home bus line. And it's located below Multnomah Blvd. at the bottom of a long driveway. Walkable for someone in decent physical shape, certainly not for my mother-in-law who lives there.
