As was said in other reviews, the focus of this Church is not to the altar. The folks here are very welcoming. We stayed after for pastries and coffee. The main issue my wife and I had was we couldn't hear the homily at all. We're older and don't hear as well as we used to, but we could hear the Eucharistic Prayer without problem. Need to adjust the sound system. Again, great folks here.

If you want to encounter Christ in mass reverently celebrated - in a parish lead according to some semblance of Catholic teaching - this is NOT your place. You can tell what this parish is the moment you walk in. They have ripped out the classical interior, turned the old alter area into a barren storage, and pointed the seats to face, and worship, each other. As others have said, it's a church run by popular agendas instead of genuine relationship and encounter with Christ crucified and risen according to any authentic teaching. I found other parishes do much more outreach in the area with better theology - which is why I go to St Michael's in downtown now.

Welcoming, inclusive parish that is self-reflective & self-interrogating in the ongoing effort to remain relevant to the community it serves and in integrity to The Gospel's core message of unconditional love to and for everyone. At least that's my take-away from my encounters with this church.

Probably the current clergy members as well as church members are very fine persons these days, but my childhood here in the 1960's was very bad and very damaging for me. There was out of control fights on the playground that the nuns seemed powerless to control, while they would hand out punishments for simple things such as any talking during lunch. After students would study they were not even allowed to talk to a friend in a police state setup of "table monitors". If all of this abuse wasn't enough, I was kept after school for no reason whatsoever one day and then physically assaulted by the nun by being hit in the face. I told my mother and about this and another student observed a red injury spot on my face, but was threatened by this teacher and pulled out of church and forced to claim that "I lied" about the incident, even though I told the truth. Hitting me was a further sign that this nun was behaving in a bizarre manner, but especially the Mother Superior wanted to hear nothing of this and defended her conduct. My mother soon removed me from this school where I was immediately treated much better and my schooling much more positive. And, the bizarre behavior of this nun was vindicated for me when she suddenly died a few weeks after I left of an undiagnosed brain tumor which seemed to explain her outlandish behavior. The years of abusive and sadistic acts by the nuns and all of the violence at this school did nothing positive for me, only leaving me with a lifetime of resentment. My life was partially ruined by the years I spent here. But, I haven't lost faith in God, but only in some who hide behind the faith.
