I am very disappointed with JATC to say the least. They are unprofessional and don’t care for the students in the slightest. Starting with the accountant, Shantel. Their website had two different deadlines for a tuition payment. I paid a day early according to one of them and 5 hours late by the other one. I was charged a $45 late fee for allegedly paying tuition late. I asked for an explanation on the disagreeing deadlines, but only got attitude from Shantel who raised her voice at me and hung up on me. I was cited to appear before the committee, where I was terminated as an electrical apprentice. I never got a chance to defend myself, the committee voted to terminate without any discussion. I never argued or refused to pay the late fee, simply asked for an explanation. I never missed a single day of class, attended all labs, payed for all tuition, and was a straight A student. I was mistreated and kicked out of school for absolutely nothing. Zero stars is my review!

I Graduated from this program class of 2019. It is a a test factory that’s it. I passed the test, got my card and went to work for IBEW Local 48. So I guess I can thank JATC for that. Here is the truth of what I experienced over the course of 4 years: My attendance was almost perfect I missed 2 days In 4 years. One day was cause my employer sent me out of town. The other I was In the hospital. I did all my homework that was assigned and attended every lab. Still I was so unprepared for the job with the skills and knowledge I got from the area 1 JATC and my apprenticeship employer. ( Honestly may be my fault. I stayed with one employer the whole 4 years, cause they paid me well above apprenticeship scale till I quit going to their church) don’t be afraid to get different work experience it will help you be a well rounded electrician later on. It’s taken a year for me to come up to speed with the rest of the guys I work with due to my knowledge and past experience or lack there of. JATC had a couple of great teachers (John C.,Jake T.) oh and Chelsea the office gal was awesome too !!!! Unfortunately we had a pile of teachers there just picking up a weekly check. One class We had cycled 3 teachers through In A quarter. Each teacher also changed lesson plans so the transformer/ calculations part of the school was essentially worthless. The labs and facilities are a joke for the amount of money that school takes in. I use the word teacher very loosely here. They use journeyman, company owners and retired tradesman exclusively. Many, many times we were let out of class after a small pop quiz that took 30-40 mins so the “teacher” could go home after a long day of working a reg job. We had a retiree Get let go cause he had no idea that he was doing. He even resorted to giving out the answer key to the quizzes and tests!!!!! Probably a third of the students never did their assignments or homework and resorted to using buddies to pass tests. Guess what I’m getting at is do your homework first. Evaluate all your options. Look into IBEW schools. Heck I’d become a plumber/pipe fitter before I went to this so called school again. If this reaches the desk of the lady who runs the program (I’m not saying names but you know who you are) I know it’s hard for you but try being nice. It will get you a lot more positive results and respect in the future. I hope this didn’t sound spiteful or bitter but nobody told me what to expect when I started this journey, I just hope it may help someone that reads it In the future.

I see a lot of negativity in these reviews. I am not affiliated with JATC, nor an electrician, employer etc. I am the father of an apprentice, just starting out. I was asked to sit in on a Board Meeting, and though their judgements are harsh, I found them just and fair. People have to understand that this is not some trade where mistakes don't have consequences. Power, electrical power, is the one great achievement that sets mankind on a higher level. Fire is nice, electricity powers our progress, and they don't need people in this trade that cannot follow simple rules. It require dedication and discipline. It's not just a "job". There are national and state laws and regulations that absolutely must be followed, codes that are there for protection and safety. If you can't follow simple classroom needs and rules, and think that lame excuses should get you by, then basically you'll be done. Enjoy your time doing something else. I found them (the Board/Committee) extremely professional. I wouldn't want to be called up in front of them. They run a tight ship. If you can keep yourself together, follow the guidelines, you'll be rewarded. If not well they aren't the place for you. Simple as that

Level of education provided by JATC Aria 1 it's just a bare minimum required by State. Very "pro-emploer" and "we will show the students who is in charge" attitude by administration. Director acts as if you owe her your life. Most of instructors don't care about students, however, some of them are really good and make sure students not just pass weekly tests, but understand the material and know how to use it in field. 2 stars to administration, 3 to most instructors and 5+ to some of the instructors. I wouldn't change school if at list half of instructors would be like Jack Manor, how ever, he is the only one to get 10 stars and uplift the whole school to a 4 star level.

I didnt find it difficult. I downloaded the opening announcement and that tells you everything you need to know about the application requirements. I asked a few questions today even though i read the instructions and the front desk answered all my questions without any problems.
Call me and I'll explain all your options. Slava. three six zero six zero one one nine five eight.
