Our union hall has by far the BEST people! I’m responding to Ron Johnson , he left a review that is NOT TRUE! First of all Ron, Oregon State Law requires anyone doing electrical work in the State MUST! Have an Electrical license. It’s not up to the union to hold your hand and help you get one! That’s on you! Maybe you should’ve checked the laws BEFORE moving to Oregon.

Went in to get help about applying for school and the fronts desk gave me nothing but a run around. They did not choose to even inform me they weren’t accepting applications and instead choose to degrade me for asking questions.

They are taking applications in July 2018

From the NIETC.org website: "It is strongly encouraged to attend an orientation on the third Tuesday of any month at 16021 NE Airport Way, Portland, OR 97230 from 4 to 5PM." They walk you through the whole process at that orientation and answer any questions you have.

Not sure but if you look it up on line you can call and ask?
Yes true, but isn’t there a certain amount of hours a material handler can get to get an interview ?
Yep. Check at beginning of every month for an application status.

Hi Desi, Apprentices attend day school for one day per week for ten weeks per term. Every situation is unique in terms of time-frame and it is best to contact the apprenticeship office with questions specific to you. All of the information about the apprenticeship is located at this website: http://www.nietc.org/applications/apprenticeship-programs.html Thanks and good luck!
Hi Alex, If you have Kaiser, you need to go through the Kaiser system but if you are on any other plan, you use the VSP (Vision Service Plan). Here's a link to the Harrison Trust site: https://www.ourbenefitoffice.com/Harrison/Benefits/HealthCare.aspx And here's a link to the VSP site: https://www.vsp.com If you have any questions or issues with those resources, please contact our plan administrator by calling (800) 547-4457. You can also call Local 48 at (503) 256-4848 if you have any trouble reaching the plan administrator. Hope this helps!
While background checks are more prevalent in the low voltage industry, many customers (especially those in the tech industry) will require background checks for commercial work as well. Have you considered having your records sealed or expunged? That would be your best option, but regardless, you'll have more opportunities to work without having to background check in commercial work. Residential work is another option. Give us a call or an email and we can set up a time to talk more. If you've paid your debt to society, there is no reason your past should limit your future opportunity. Thanks for considering us.
It sounds like you're asking about entry level positions with Local 48. If that is correct the position you're looking for is called a Material Handler, and the website and dispatch can give you all the information you need to get started in that position. Good Luck!
Contact Christina Daniels, an organizer with Local 48 for information on the possibility childcare funding. You can find her contact information on the website. There are medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as pension!
