This place was awesome when I stayed two years ago, however, I can't say the same today. 2 years ago, in the midst of the holiday season, I booked a room through the hotels website and had no issues. The room was large and clean, and despite there being no breakfast or gym/pool due to Covid, it was a great deal for the price. Now let's fast forward to this evening. I booked a non-refundable reservation through a travel site to save 10% (my first mistake apparently). I get to the hotel to check in and the lady behind the desk asks if I'm from Altoona. I tell her yes and she says she can't give me a room. Apparently there's a policy in place that they don't rent to people within a 50 mile radius. Why, you may ask? I know as well as you do. She told me the policy has been in place since at least she started working there 23 years ago, nevermind the fact that I was able to get a room less than 2 years ago with no issues, hassles, or questions asked. Okay, now I'd understand if it was a major holiday and they were on the verge of being booked solid, but no, it's just a regular Friday night, no Curve game in town, no special events in town.

We were very happy with our stay. Clean, quiet, comfortable, and close to everything we wanted to do. Lots of restaurants nearby as well as shopping. Loved it and hope to return

I've stayed here a number of times over the past two years and almost all have been pleasant experiences. Clean comfy beads are always a highlight for me.The bathrooms are a little worn but very clean, and the water pressure and temperature are always great. The free muffins and yogurts at breakfast is portable enough for me to take with me on the next legs of my trip. On one occasion my male companion stayed outside to have a cigarette while I checked in and headed up to our room. When he tried to come in and go past, the older woman at the front desk stopped him and then proceeded to call me in the room to make sure I really was expecting someone. As a woman who normally travels alone, I really appreciated this gesture and her effort to keep me safe from potential harm. My first visit was during the height of Covid, and I didn't love that the young woman at the front desk didn't seem bothered to pull her mask up over her nose. But I suppose it was still better than the several men who were hanging around in the lobby maskless and taking turns going out to smoke directly in front of the doors so that the smoke wafted in. Luckily I had a room on the second floor that time to the smoke didn't bother me much after I walked away.

Positive: Location was convenient to many restaurants Negative: Check in staff was kind and fairly efficient but had a small child (toddler) with her. Breakfast does not begin until 7am which was to late for us to take advantage of during our multi night stay.
