A beautiful restaurant with traditional seating or modern tables. If you choose the traditional seats you get a raised platform to take off your shoes and store them. You get a floor seat that is on a small ledge so you still get a bit of a room to let your legs hang without having to cross them fully. The food is delicious and is wonderfully complimented by the atmosphere. When I went it was a one man kitchen staff so be prepared for a wait if you don't arrive right at opening of the dinner time. Also be sure to give the drum a couple of bangs for good luck on the way in or out.

Amazing and authentic Japanese cuisine. Brought back fond memories from my time living in Japan. There may be a wait, but it's worth every second. Perhaps the best taco-yaki I've ever had!

So amazing, can't recommend it enough. Come prepared to wait for an hour or so, since the only chef cooks everything fresh to order. We waited on the left with drinks as the staff is very attentive. Once we were moved to our table, food was served quickly. One of the best Japanese restaurants we've been to outside of Japan. The interior architecture is in a traditional Japanese style, and there are private rooms with shōji doors and tatami floors which may need a special reservation.

We were visiting from out of state and went for dinner on a Sunday evening. We were a big group without a reservation yet the owner was more than patient and accommodated us. The service was great and the food was delicious. We had such a great time that I left my purse there only to discover it later that night and the restaurant is closed on Monday/Tuesday. My husband somehow got hold of the owner via their Facebook page who went out of her busy schedule and met us by the restaurant on Monday afternoon even when they are supposed to be closed. What a relief that was as we were headed out of Oregon on that day. Extremely grateful, kind people still exist in this world.

I don’t remember seeing udon on the menu either, but I usually got for the katsu curry when I’m in town, awesome every time
No, only mochi ice cream
No but there's a lot of street parking in the area. I do think you need to pay to park.

No not pub food. Its regular style Japanese sushi 🍣 try the quail eggs wrapped in bacon. Super yummy. Every time I visit Portland i eat there. 🍱🍜🍣🍤🥢🍶
I've never had a problem when I've gone.
If your allergy is anaphylactic, i wouldn't recommend it.
