Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portland-NW Downtown, an IHG Hotel

I would give this hotel 10 stars, just for the location and parking! It’s conveniently located off the highway exit. Easy access to FREE parking. There’s ground and underground parking. It’s just steps away from 23rd and 21st Avenues, which are filled with great restaurants and shops. And there’s an amazing food market just steps away. We enjoyed exploring this area more than exploring downtown Portland (we walked to downtown in 30 mins!). It felt safe during the day and in the evening, unlike the downtown area. Bonus stars for the free breakfast, which had all the usual hotel offerings (yogurts, oatmeal, pancakes, eggs, bagels, etc). They have a coffee and hot water/tea station available 24/7. There’s also a pool, but we didn’t use it. Sure it’s an older hotel, but everything above makes up for it. I would stay here again!

From check-in through check-out the lodging experience was ideal. The staff are friendly and helpful. We don't normally expect much when there's a complimentary breakfast buffet, but we were really impressed with the variety of the breakfast items offered, the quality and taste of the hot items, and how the buffet food was arranged and presented in a such a nice way.

It was a well worth it’s price. We stayed 3 nights and found the amenities to be comfortable, clean and the hotel was in a great spot. Walking distance to great bars and food spots. Staff was SUPER friendly, especially Sasha! She checked us in the first night and helped us find some late night food. She made the experience great. Thanks Sasha and the Holiday Inn staff!

Great location, walkable to nearby restaurants. Excellent free on-site parking. Excellent friendly staff. Super clean property. Well appointed rooms, comfortable beds, great in room coffee maker. White fluffy towels. Nice big TV with a great picture. The best hot breakfast in a clean well maintained and well stocked breakfast room. The laundry room was convenient and had a nice seating area while I enjoyed the free wifi while I waited for my laundry to finish. We stayed four nights and never had a problem. I can’t say enough about this property, it was great and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay in Portland. I highly recommend staying here and will never stay anywhere other than Holiday Inn every time I travel. I have never had a bad experience at any Holiday Inn. It’s comforting knowing you can always count on quality and great service.
