The lower level is designated as a Quiet Study Area and has four desks with power, lights, and comfy task chairs on rollerblade wheels. Three other reading spots include lamps and side tables. A few other long tables include chairs so there's room for about 10-12 people to study quietly.
Yes. The lower level offers four comfortable study stations with power and task lighting. UO affiliates may sign up to use the lower level classroom or main floor small study room. Visit the website to place a reservation up to a month in advance. Generally our branch library is pretty cozy and the main floor offers comfortable seating in two reading areas and a couple group study areas for several people to spread out their project work. Main floor computer workstations are available to students and offer ample seating for two and even three people to work at one station.
Yes! The Duck Store near the front entrance offers full espresso bar services during the week. Several other coffee shops are located nearby within one or two blocks.
Two open access research kiosks are capable of sending scanned files and common documents formats to free Internet FAX gateway services. These are often limited by the number of pages and faxes sent per day. Nearby copy centers and other options exist but we're happy to lend a hand in a pinch!
UO Guest wireless is available for use on personal phones, tablets and laptops while on campus
Two open access research stations are available for visiting scholars needing to access the Internet, including most library subscription databases and resources. Visitors may self-register for access to the UO Guest wireless network. Visiting scholars from a participating institution can use their existing credentials to connect to the Eduroam wireless network.
Color and black & white photocopies are available in letter, legal, and tabloid sizes for a cost. Printing from workstations, including the research kiosks or directly from your USB drive is also available for a fee using Duck Bucks or a copy card purchased from the Duck Store here in the building. Scanning, including use of the book scanner or document feeder on the copier/printer is available to all patrons at no cost. Scan to USB or to any email address.
Yes, we have current subscriptions to a number of art and architecture journals as well as the last week or so of The Oregonian, New York Times, Daily Journal of Commerce, Portland Business Journal, and NW Examiner among others. Use the two open access kiosks to view 1,000's of other journals online.
With over 11,000 print items and several thousand additional journals, UO Portland Library began with a focus on architecture. About half of the print collection is specifically related to the subject of architecture. Over the past couple of decades the collection has grown to include support for the areas of business, historic preservation, journalism, law and product design.
Residents of the State of Oregon can qualify for a limited Oregon Card to borrow a few items from our print collection. However, we are currently limiting access to visiting researchers with a specific need to access our collections and databases. Consider first if your needs can be met by the world class services at Multnomah County Libraries. Two locations are nearby.
