The American Reserve

I have been coming to the bar at the American Reserve, about once or twice a week for the past month. I can not say enough about the bartender Larry. Not only does he make one of the BEST French 75s in the city, he always makes me feel welcome and comfortable, even though I admittedly don’t look nor dress like the “typical crowd” that frequents the bar! It’s the definitely the service that keeps me coming back! Do yourself a favor and get there a night Larry, is bartending. His skill and detail to drinks is not something you find at every hotel bar, and very much appreciated.

Went with a group of 11 people. They accommodate this size group with a large square table vs long rectangle, which we liked. We weren't told that the live music would be setting up within a few inches of our table, and we were a little disappointed in not knowing. We shuffled a few people and seats and ended up having a good time. The food is good, but not as great as the competition for the same price. Still rating as 5 Star because they have a great location, elegant atmosphere and the food was good just not great. Our group had steaks, pork chops, and appetizers like the pork belly burnt ends, wings and the charcuterie plate.

Great live music, out door parking structure has been turned into a lil jazz club. The area should be curtained in so that it really gives it a club feel. The food was okay, but the entertainment was awesome. Service was slower, since we had a bjg group.

The Reserve just re-opened after renovation. My expectations were not met. While other reviews are overwhelmingly positive, my experience was not. The ambiance is nice. Service was friendly. They disavowed any happy hour specials (despite what was published on their website). No happy hour food options were offered either. Cocktail prices are about 20-30% higher than they should be. Relatively unimaginative beer options. No tap beer options.
