Went to lunch today at hero sushi. I always pass by it on the way home from work. I had a craving for some sushi and decided to stop by. Coming in there is a fish tank that looked really dirty poor fish. If I had a restaurant I wouldn't have something dirty like that showcasing 1st thing anyone sees. Upon seeing that I did not have high hopes but decided to give it a try. Looking around there wasn't anyone sitting for lunch, which is another red flag. Going to the restroom it did not look very clean floor was filthy it was just gross. When I ordered my lunch I received a salad and miso soup. The dressing on the salad was like a watered-down thousand island just didn't taste good. The miso soup was room temperature and also tasted watered-down. Now for the sushi. Looking at the dish it was pretty but unfortunately not that great. Just about every sushi piece just did not taste fresh. It had a weird aftertaste. There was too much avocado on the roll. On the good side the customer service was nice and the food came out at a decent price. Sorry but I will not be returning. Maybe for some people it was the greatest sushi or their go to, not for me.

Hands down my favorite sushi spot in RVA. Their rice to fish ratio is perfect. They don't fill the rolls with rice, as some sushi restaurants do to cut overhead costs. Their lunch 3-roll combo with soup and salad was perfect to satisfy my sushi craving.

Very good sushi I had the volcano roll (image below) and clam miso soup but they have ramune soda in the menu but don’t have it so that’s why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 would recommend

Definitely not what I expect when Ive had a taste for sushi ALL DAY and place an online order. I should've checked my food before I pulled of but you would think since there was NOBODY inside they had plenty of time to get it right, especially since this is all I ordered. My sushi isnt even put together....looks like they just threw ingredients in my container and put sauce on top. My first experience was definitely the worst

Hiro sushi takes the safety of the employees and customers very serious. Per CDC guidelines, wearing masks while moving about the restaurant is mandatory. 6ft distance should be followed and sanitizing all surfaces and menus is high priority. We ask employees stay home if they feel sick.
