I loved this hike, super challenging, I had never done anything like this before. It has few different passes to walk up to the peak. I took a short ones, my hike was a little under 5 miles and a 4,000 ft of elevation gain. It was a good workout on the way up but my legs were crying a lot on the way down. the view at the peak was unforgettable. I was able to see Mount Rainer, Mount Baker….. wildflowers… Good hiking shoes, trekking poles, water, hat… food.

Mailbox trail is one of my favourite hiking trail. New trail is quite easy but lengthy. Old trail is short but there is too much steepness. Both trails are amazing with full of old tall tress.

Came in a Saturday morning around 10:30, both upper and lower parking lot is full, needed to wait for a while for a spot. Wish they would have a bigger parking lot. The hike was great and challenging, we took the old trail up and new trail down: old trail is about 3.2mi from the parking lot, total elevation around 4086ft, very steep all the time! Look for the white diamond-shaped sign so you don't get lost in the woods, the hike up to the top is difficult but rewarding.

Basically, if you can ascend/descend stairs for about ten miles, then you can probably hike this trail. AllTrails rates this as difficult. I say it's correct in that it will physically test you, but not hard in that you need special equipment. Watch your steps, take plenty of food/water, and get in early for parking. The last stretch will make you question your decision to hike, but take it easy. Discover pass required.

No. There's no where to camp at the top, it's truly a rocky peak.
