Everywhere I go its a priority to try and give an opportunity to local stores. This time I tried a well known place in the Ruskin area called The Dog House. First the positives. Its a small family company with very good service. Its a simple and casual place. Food is tasty. There’s parking. The negative is certainly price, which nowadays is affecting everyone. I ordered a meal consisting in a portion of beef brisket meat (mix of lean with fat) a very small portion of beans and fries. The price was close to $24 without a drink. Judge yourself by the picture but for between $25 and $30 you can buy a 12, 20 or 26 oz steak at any steak house together with too very decent sides. I don’t think there’s too many people that can afford $24 for a meal like the picture. Despite the price it’s worth a try at least once.

Excellent Texas-style BBQ! The brisket was perfect, juicy and tender. The ribs and chicken fell off the bone, and the pulled pork was wonderful. Delicious sauces too! Also, the onion rings and hush puppies came out hot and crispy, and the Mac n cheese was awesome. Very friendly service and the tables are clean.

This is a food trailer with two large aluminum carport style structures placed over top with picnic tables placed underneath. There are two smokers out front giving off the heavenly aroma of oak and smoked meat! Strikes me as one of those places you would find locals frequently visiting. The kind of place you can go to to get the flavor of the general area. The bathroom facility is a well maintained porta potty. The food here is great! The pineapple coleslaw, jalapeno corn fritters and brisket sandwich were delicious. The menu is full of tasty selections and the prices are reasonable. Look for the specials they were a very good bargain.
