I've been using WSECU for about a decade. Often times I feel like this isn't a secure place for my savings. They ask for you to verify your account info by providing several bits of info out loud: Account number, DOB, Last four of social. On several occasions I have brought up my concern that other people nearby are able to hear and collect all that information, and use it to withdraw money from my savings. There is a seating area maybe 7 feet away from one of the tellers, and definitely within earshot. They said they would put a note on my account to check my ID each time I come in. Cool. Except they don't always ask to check it and instead only ask me to verbally verify who I am. I have asked them to put this note on my account about 4 times within the past year and a half. I can only assume the tellers do not always read the notes. To sum it up, WSECU doesn't really do everything they can to safeguard your savings. They are aware that their methods of verifying client identify can easily be exploited by anyone within earshot, and are unwilling to commit to a solution. A completely separate complaint I have is that they don't offer contact-less (tap to pay) credit/debit cards. This technology has been available since 2015. I was hoping that the pandemic would incentivize WSECU to offer this type of card but I have not seen anything promising yet. The good things I have to say about WSECU is that they have a pretty good system. I have never been hit by ridiculous fees that I hear other banking organizations impose on their clients. Most of their employees are quite friendly (with the exception of the lady I worked with today). Their app is easy to use as well.

I've banked with WSECU for about a year, because they offered me a low rate on an auto loan and their branch happened to be real close. So I also opened up and account with them. Aside from their low interest rate - which I probably could have gotten anywhere since I have good credit - they have been an absolute joke to deal with. In about 10 dealings with them, they've screwed up on nearly every single transaction. That's not cool, where one's money is concerned. I mean, if I could give these clowns zero stars, I definitely would. Nobody follows through at WSECU, and apparently, their employees aren't held accountable to do their jobs either. I'm taking all of my money out of my accounts with them because they're so incompetent. It's because of Mickey Mouse financial institutions like WSECU, why most people instead bank with large corporate banks like CitiBank, Chase and BofA.

I just started a checking/savings account today. I was so impressed by the level of customer service, I sent them positive feedback via their website. I just pasted it here so I wouldn't have to write everything again! :) "To Whom it May Concern: A few hours ago, I entered your Lakewood branch in order to start an account with your credit union as a relatively new Washington state employee. I was immediately impressed with the beautiful lobby area and decor; it was simultaneously inviting and professional. Ginger greeted me with an easy smile and asked what she could help me with. After explaining my intentions, she directed me to have a seat and she was ready to go within 3 - 5 minutes. While taking my information for my new savings and checking accounts, I mentioned that I would be interested in an auto loan at some point in the future. She pulled my credit report and educated me on the effects of paying off my debts all at once or over the course of a few months. At no time did I feel pressured or judged for my less than perfect (like, way less than perfect) credit score; she seemed to genuinely want to assist me in taking the necessary steps to make my future auto loan an easier process. And she is hilarious! While she still had a lovely, professional demeanor, her sense of humor was more than welcome. Also when I mentioned that I had a young daughter, Ginger told me about your wonderful option for child savings accounts that I plan to utilize at a later date. All in all, my experience was educational, pleasant, empowering, and best of all, easy. I now see why my coworkers recommended your organization. Please keep up the great work and continue to hire wonderful consultants like Ginger. Thank you!"
