This place is fantastic. I was in town to sew some flip covers for my son's futons and window seats. It was a blast to use state-of-the art equipment at Modern Domestic. They had everything I needed. The staff was tops. To work with gigantic tables at the right height made the work go fast. What a joy. I will be back next time I am in town.

Super friendly and helpful staff! I've been wanting to start sewing for years and didn't really know where to start. After talking with someone here I've got all the things needed to start my sewing journey!

My husband often says that the only domestic about me is that live in a house ;-)! My daughter in law, who is a high powered attorney has taken up sewing for stress relief, go figure. She wanted a gift certificate from Modern Domestic so we made a trip there to pick one up for her. It was fun to see the beautiful colors, fabrics and threads they had in the store. They also teach sewing classes so you may want to try a class for yourself or someone you know. You won't see me there but I would love to see a picture of you sewing at Modern Domestic!

We provide all tools and notions needed such as pins, scissors, marking tools, and rulers. Please bring your own thread, or feel free to purchase any supplies for your project in-store at the time of your visit. -MD

Do you service sewing machines other than Bernina? I have an Elna. I'm not having any issues with it, but it also hasn't been professionally cleaned (if that's even necessary) since I've owned it. Thank you, Francesca

What are the Covid safety practices like here?

They have a limited capacity, markers on the floor, hand sanitizer when you walk in, plexiglass around the registers, and they make sure you aren't crowding others in the store and to stay a safe distance apart. I felt comfortable going here during this time

Thanks for checking, Kimberly! Yes, when classes are live again we will certainly provide beginner machine classes. These Sew Basic classes are for all brands of machines. Do you work on White sewing machines?

I don't think they repair sewing machines. If they did it would probably be Berninia only. That's the only brand of machines I've seen there. Montivilla is probably your best bet.
