Was seen on April 20th around 11pm because I was concerned I might have had a ruptured aneurysm since I had a pulsating migraine all day and difficulty concentrating. Mind you, I was already being seen by a neurologist and neurosurgeon who diagnosed me with said aneurysm and told me to be mindful of my symptoms until my angiogram. I went to the ER to just get peace of mind and make sure it didn’t rupture. They treated me like I was crazy for knowing I had an aneurysm. Told them the whole story of how we found it and what tests were already done. It was diagnosed with a CT scan with contrast. About 1.3 cm. Well they finally go ahead and get me in to get a CT scan without contrast. Test came back for no leakage(bleeding) which is all I was worried about. But then the doctor came back and said my drs were wrong and I did not have an aneurysm then prescribed me medications for my headaches. At that point I was ready to go, so I said ok(knowing I had an aneurysm and I would just follow up with my neurologist) These medications by the way could of potentially caused harm to someone if they had an aneurysm which I did. I called my doctors the next day and they told me to absolutely not take the medication prescribed to me. I got my angiogram on May 2nd, and the aneurysm measured at 13mm and I ended up having surgery on May 6th where they did a coiling procedure and also placed a stint in. So apparently for someone who didn’t have an aneurysm, I needed to have surgery. I love how this doctor, on a lesser test decided it was a good idea to say the other test which is better had an incidental finding. All I’ll say is I’m glad I went with my gut and ignored what this dr tried to tell me. Just beware of DO Alfred A. Caudullo.

I recently had a bunch of medical issues. The teams at backus did not stop until they had a plan set in stone to fix the problem, they were all wonderful and walked you through everything .. Between the ED and Surgery there wonderful. I won’t go anywhere but Backus!

If i could give zero for this hospital i would every time i am in this place they forget about us and say there busy but in reality they are standing around talking. Not only do they forget about you but your lucky if you get a room i am always at a bed in the hallway and they ask you all kinds of personal questions. Absolutely no privacy nobody should know why i am in the hospital or my personal health info. Theres a women here that keeps screaming for help and people just keep walking by her ignoring her. One of the nurses was so rude to a patient who asked if there was anyone in the bathroom. She obviously wasn’t listening to the patient because she told she had to wait or walk to the other side to use the other bathroom. Absolutely rude i would rather drive far then have to step in this emergency room

Worst hospital ever. I even drove to new London while having a miscarriage because I will not ever go back to Backus. I was mis diagnosed twice at backus. My father was dying from cancer after Yale burned his liver with radiation+ made cancer fastly spread to his brain. We had no idea. Either did they until it was to late. Took him into Backus for them to say okay he's dying say ur goodbyes. Like it was a goldfish or a rock. They don't care. While my father was dying. Our family had to take care of him inside his hospital room. While nurses were out in hallway just chatting it up drinking there coffee. Every single experience I have had there was truly horrible. Not sure where these doctor's get there degree's. Even giving birth there was horrible. n it's a shame of the care we get as patient's at Backus. WORST HOSPITAL EVER WORST SERVICE EVER. N please clean ur HOSPITAL. Disgusting.

Dr. Varma is at Rheumatology clinic located at the Salem Turnpike clinic. It is the old Ames Plaza.
No appt necessary, 3 days for results, also can get the my health app to relieve n keep ur results with other convenient features..
Spoke with an operator, Backus Hospital does not offer rapid diagnostic testing, they only administer the PCR which can take several days.
There are many physicians. It is part of the Hartford healthcare system. There is primary care, emergency and specialty physicians.
I found a few of those apps at Google play store. Hope you find what you are looking for
Don't think they do there. In the past they gave me a list of dentists in the area to go to. Yale ER will pull a tooth if they have to
