This store has a stairway that leads to the underground caves and the water!! Seals can be found in the caves, but people are discouraged from interacting with them. The stairs are wooden and can be very slippery, so make sure to use the handrails AND wear shoes with a good grip. Be prepared to pay to visit the caves. I believe it was $15/per person, but I thought it was well-worth it.

This cute little tiny gift shop has a not-so-hidden staircase that leads you down to the Cave. It is a unique experience if you don't want to kayak out to one of the caves in La Jolla. It provides a safe experience for your family if you have little ones or elderly to worry about. Caution: stairs are quite slippery. I personally think that $10 was not worth the 10-15 experience. The cave is quite small. Once you get to the cave, there's not much to walk around or see. I would say $5 would be more reasonable.

Not worth the hype. Definitely not worth $10! 145 steps one way. And not much view there😅gift store is overpriced But History behind is amazing!! This tunnel was dug out by two Chinese laborers hired by German artist, mining engineer, and entrepreneur Gustav Schultz in 1902. It leads from the Cave Store, Schultz's original residence, down through the sandstone cliffs of La Jolla Cove and into Sunny Jim's Sea Cave. It's been said that during Prohibition, bootleggers smuggled alcohol and opium into San Diego through the sea cave by carrying it through this tunnel! Tours are approximately 15-20 minutes long and self guided. Come prepared to both descend and climb the original 144 stairs (roughly a five minute ascent at a gentle pace).

Really neat to experience. You walk down stairs in the cave to access a section that has a view of the ocean. The stairwell isn't that wide; the width is just enough for 2 people to walk pass each other in, the opposite direction. Very pretty. I think the cost was $10 a person. Only takes about 30 minutes round trip. If you're unable to access the cave, you can check out the trails and shops nearby.

The gift store is the main entrance and the top of the stairs are inside the store. You enter the store, pay & sign the waiver then walk down the stairs to the cave.
There is a gift shop that is free but if you want to go down 160 steps into the caves it will cost you $5
Paypal, card's and cash
It's first come first serve. During covid they have people form a line outside and they only allow a certain amount of people in at a time. I recommend going before 2pm or gets busy.
Well I guess I can say park and walk to it I guess that's one way
Self guide. You walk down, hang out down there until you want to walk back up.
There is plenty of parking nearby. There is also a lot to see in the area so you don't have to park nearby.
