This is one of my favorite local stores in bellingham. The selection of healthy/natural/organic skin care and cosmetics is everything you could hope for and more. I especially love the bulk section of soaps, lotions, laundry detergent, dish soap, natural body wash, and also they're wonderful selection of bulk tees, coffee, dried fruits, pasta and even honey and peanut butter ground straight from the peanuts! You will not regret shopping here. The employees are so friendly and they don't make you feel weird taking your time or when my card expires and I have to come back they never make you feel embarrassed or anything like that. The main reason they're getting five stars for me though, is when I was homeless and they had the upstairs sitting down area they would let me come in and use the microwave with food I brought in myself when I couldn't afford to buy it there and they would allow me to use their hot water, plates bowls cups silverware, and even plug my devices in to get a good charge so that I had everything I needed to be comfortable to sleep in my car for the night. Not once did they ever harass me even if I didn't have a dollar to spend for weeks at a time. I honestly don't know what I would have done without this place in the time that I was living in my car and I'm eternally grateful to them. They really are doing this community a huge service! Shop local as much as you can! It's so worth it in the long run even if it costs a bit more and honestly their prices really are pretty great compared to other places of this type!

I was hoping to get organic grass fed, grass finished meats. After waiting almost 10minutes for the obviously more entitled 2 customers to make their selections and move their carts, I was highly disappointed to see the overly commercial ranger brand chicken (not exactly the quality of cooks venture or butcherbox) and for steaks, I could have sirloin from painted hills (ok brand). No new York, ribeye, or other more desirable cuts. I also needed green tea. There was an older gentleman employee who was restocking and would not step aside so I could grab my selection, so we waited about 5 minutes, then I just left. Mind you the parking lot was about half full, but it was such a negative experience, I doubt I'll try to shop there again. I guess it's mail order food for my family 😢 what a waste. So much for buying local!

No dine-in restored yet; store is in full opperation; prices high; parking can be a challenge at peak times; looking more and more like a standardized retail store with fewer local, unique products I could not get anywhere else

This is one of the two Community Co-op stores in town (the downtown one, obviously). It's mostly what you'd expect from a co-op, but two things stand out: the beer selection, and the bulk goods. Both sections are _huge_, especially for a small little store like this. Oh, one other thing stands out: the people who work here are incredibly friendly. If you're accustomed to the Bellingham version of the Seattle Freeze, you'll be amazed at how genuinely friendly and helpful the staff here are.

Anyone can shop at the Co-op! They have a membership program if you want to join you can, otherwise it's a great place to get whole & organic items.
Our safety practices include face coverings required for entry, capacity is monitored and maintained at 25%, we have physical barriers at the registers, no personal containers are allowed in the store, and we have a high risk shopping hour from 8 - 9 am for anyone at high risk or vulnerable. We also have online shopping with touchless curbside pickup available at www.communityfood.coop.
Many levels of vegan/vegetarian friendly products. Great area to sit and taste what you purchased.
Hi Chikyo, Our hours will be: New Year's Eve: bakery café closes at 4 pm both stores close at 8 pm New Year's Day: all locations open at 10 am

Yes...and they have one of the largest varieties of vitamins and supplements in town...always worth checking out.
The Bellingham Food Co op has a full time nutritionist always on hand in the extensive vitamin section...very knowledgeable and helpful.
