I really wanted to like this company but at the end of the day they just made too many mistakes and the quality and value were not worth it...I ordered a simple lean to awning 11.5x35 foot with a 3:12 pitch and had been assured they would be better quality and worth the additional $2000 dollar up charge from their competitor who included free installation and delivery. I chose to install it myself because I was under a time constraint because of a previously planned trip and it would have taken 6-8 weeks to arrange a crew from HCI; plus the cost was going to be an additional $1100 on top of the $4400 they already charged me.. The competitor company could not provide a definite delivery date and required installation by their own crew which would have been free but not having a scheduled time frame was a deal breaker. In the end HCI welded the rafter angles wrong 2 times and eventually ended up changing the chord length on the final iteration which messed up the overhangs on the sheet metal roofing. Additionally, I had to cut 4 inches from the longer uprights in order to make the structure sit vertical after having been assured they laid it out to confirm it was correct. (This was not true) The scheduling delays and three deliveries took almost 3 weeks more than the promised delivery date which, messed up my trip departures. Sadly the awning is still not right but I finally decided to just live with the results. The only reason I gave them 2 stars because they did work with me to modify the width a bit when they had to re weld the rafters because my slab was not perfectly rectangular (not their fault) but the final rafters were still not correct, the edges were wicked sharp because no one bothered to remove the barbs from the cut ends, the instructions were poor and incomplete, the gable trim they send is not correct and will trap debris so I will have to buy additional trim pieces to finish the project. Any company can have problems but it is inexcusable to have this done wrong three times when they have a program that can calculate simple roof pitches. They need to review their quality control program, read their own instructions and actually send the appropriate trim for the gable ends which they charged a considerable amount for.

They did a great job. HCI have quality product and top notch service. I needed some help with city permit and they were very knowledgeable. Everything was transparent and well documented, on schedule, and they delivered great result. I have a well build carport that has increase the value of my property.

We recently purchased and had HCI steel buildings install us a 12'x12'x35' carport for our travel trailer and had a very frustrating experience. They had good reviews and were local, which we like to support. Our experienced involved; lack of communication, poor quality control and poor customer service. Our installation date was pushed back three days (not a big deal), we were told that the install would take one day, which it didn't. We were also told that we would be contacted first thing to figure out a day to finish the installation (we had to call them two days later). We were also not contacted after the carport was completed, which they told us they would do. Upon inspecting the carport we noticed that the supports for the walls and rafters were missing self-tapping screws, there should be 4 at each support, most of them had two or three. We contacted the sales manager we made the purchase with about the issue and was told that the issue would be taken care of. Well, after 16 days of not being contacted about the missing tapping screws, I decided to just do it myself. We also asked the sales manager for a possible partial reimbursement for the installations cost since technically our carport was still incomplete and we were basically directed to call the owner ourselves about a reimbursement. After contacting the owner by phone and painfully explaining the whole event again, the owner stated that he was at a job and would get back to us after he returns to the office and 10 days later we still haven't heard from HCI. HCI's policy is that the costumer makes a partial payment at the time of the order and then pay the difference after install, we didn't get an opportunity to inspect the carport before the crew left because they didn't contact us. Since we paid in full (shame on me) at the time of the order, since we didn't owe them any money prior to the install, we have been ignored after finding our issues. If HCI were to tell us sorry about the screws and sorry no refund, we would be a lot happier than giving us the run around. HCI definitely lost a returning costumer and/or referral from us.

HCI installed a steel building for me in March. It was in place well before the new boat arrived. HCI was the right choice. The entire staff was very friendly and handled my small project with the highest level of importance. I shopped around some and found mostly identical pricing, but HCI offered the best overall deal and are local. All the other companies were booked up from 8 - 12 weeks. HCI had the job completed in 3 weeks! I am so glad I chose HCI. A special thank you to Charleen, she found an open slot in the schedule and made it all possible. The work crew was courteous, and worked well together. The lead crew member was very professional. HCI STEEL ROCKS! Matt Guentz customer.

HCI name was given by its Alaskan founders in 1974. In 1986, the company established its plant in Arlington. After Australian company bought it and later on closed the plant in 2011, current owners re-established the name of HCI in 2012.
Best company Ever and it is local. Going for our # 2 cover
Yes most likely. Check with your local officials to determine the case.
Depends on location and the size of the structure. We recommend calling your local building department, since the guidelines vary for different cities and/or locations.
